The cost of renewing a trailer registration and license plate varies according to the trailers weight. Florida law does not require vehicle registration renewal notices for trailers to be mailed, and failure to receive a courtesy renewal notice by mail does not relieve the trailer owner of their responsibility to timely renew their trailer registrations and license plates. The renewal notice includes materials which allow trailer owners to more easily renew their registration(s) by mail. The courtesy renewal notices are mailed approximately 3 weeks prior to the trailer owner’s birth month (or month in which the renewal is due). For semi-trailers, the annual expiration date is December 31st.For company owned trailers, the expiration date is June 30th.
